Passionate, sunny and FUNNY, people are drawn to Sandy’s easy laughter and warmth and her generous, supportive spirit. Most people are surprised – after they experience Sandy - to know that she too has dealt with sadness and disappointment in her life. Growing up in St. Cloud, Minnesota the middle child of 14, Sandy’s father died when she was 19. Her mother raised the children alone, and within a month of her last child leaving home, her mother died from Mad Cow Disease. Sandy’s grappled with the panic and uncertainty of three brothers having cancer, and while pregnant with her third daughter, Lauren, Sandy had a cervical cancer scare and underwent a hysterectomy soon after she gave birth. She won another battle with cancer- skin cancer this time – and kept a positive attitude through it all.
Twenty years into her marriage, Sandy realized that while she wasn’t UN-happy, she wasn’t happy, either, and she was forced to come to terms with the difficult reality she had created in her life and relationships. “Over time, I realized everything I did was for everyone else. One day, I began to realize who I was, and that people liked that person.” Sandy made some difficult changes in her life to honor her happiness, including releasing some unhealthy relationships, changing her career, renewing her faith, and making hard decisions that while they were right for her, they ruffled others’ feathers. Ultimately, Sandy realized that as she prioritized her needs and happiness, she had so much more to give.
Thirty-plus-years of being a closet compulsive overeater, Sandy told her story on CBN’s, the 700 Club, in March of 2009, and experienced yet another freedom and avenue to help people with addictions.
Dubbed, “Life’s Cheerleader,” Sandy’s most fulfilling role – besides being ‘Mom’ to three precious daughters - Jacki, Katie and Lauren - was learning to validate and honor her spirit, and being able to pass on the lessons so everyone can get to know themselves, accept and fall madly in love with the person that they were created to be. Empowered by these lessons, Sandy encourages – through speaking engagements, life coaching, and her membership website – to teach people to celebrate their uniqueness and to share their gifts with the world. Sandy’s example and teachings have inspired tens of thousands to take back their lives and find the fulfillment that they deserve. As she so genuinely states, “I just want everyone to love themselves!” And she is teaching them exactly how to do that!
Sandy use of humor (with her signature red clown nose) and her personal stories teach the importance of honoring your own voice and she supports you on every step of your journey. She works with individuals, groups – BIG or small – corporations; and also offers Christian programs and products to inspire and motivate, personally and professionally. Sandy’s unique ability to make every person feel as though she is talking to just them – no matter how large the group – makes her a repeat presenter at many gatherings.
Sandy moved from Chicago in September 2006 – leaving Willow Creek Church where she was very involved - to Nashville where she was asked to help plant a church, after serving the displaced families on three occasions that Hurricane Katrina left in its path of wrath.
